Just three weeks shared a first look at two all-electric trucks Volvo. The FE model Electric full weight up to 27 tons with a fully-electric drive specially designed for the transport of heavy loads in an urban setting, such as garbage collection and delivery of goods. The start of sales in Europe scheduled for the year 2019.
"We Supplement the model range of trucks with electric drive, used for city needs, model Volvo FE Electric and strategically expanded the range of our solutions in the field of electric transport. This opens up new opportunities for cooperation with cities that seek to improve air quality, reduce noise and congestion during peak hours. It is now in commercial operations can be carried out quietly and eco-friendly early morning or late evening," says the President of Volvo Trucks, Mr. Claes Nilsson.
The premiere for Volvo FE Electric was the garbage truck, and, with the innovative add-in, developed in collaboration with the largest European kosovorotka Faun. Sales electromyograms will begin in 2019 with the second largest German city Hamburg.
"Hamburg, in 2011 received the title of "green capital of the EU", which has been successfully implementing projects to improve the environment in the city. And last but not least this applies to the transport sector: - electric Volvo buses already in use in the public transport network. Experience Hamburg and its development plans make this city the most interesting partner for us", – shared his opinion of the Vice-President of the product group Volvo FL and Volvo FE, Volvo Trucks is Mr. Jonas Odermalm.
CEO of Stadtreinigung Hamburg, Professor rüdiger Ziehau, in turn, sees great potential motorized transport in improving the environmental situation in the city: "Today, each of our 300 garbage trucks emits approximately 31.3 tonnes of carbon dioxide. A garbage truck with an electric motor and a battery that can work for a full shift 8-10 hours is a technological breakthrough. Another advantage is that the SRH produces electricity without any impact on the climate. This energy can be used to charge the batteries."
New electric truck Volvo FE Electric will be offered in various designs and specifications for the various transport tasks. For example, musorovozy versions of the Volvo FE Electric cabin is made low (LEC), which facilitates the driver to frequent entry and exit from the car. In addition, the improved visibility from the cab provides excellent visibility to traffic. Distinguishing the electric truck low noise and no vibration also increase driving comfort. Capacity and, accordingly, the price of the battery can be adapted to specific needs, and charging is done either from a household electrical outlet or fast charging stations.
"Our comprehensive solutions for electric transport designed to the specific needs of each client, including and municipal customers. In addition, we offer related services, e.g., routing analysis, maintenance, and loans through our network of Truck centres and service stations throughout Europe. We have also partnered with providers of infrastructure solutions for charging vehicles", concludes Jonas Odermalm.
Volvo FE Electric
All-electric truck with GVW of 27 tons is designed for transportation, garbage collection and other tasks in the urban environment. It is equipped with two electric motors with a total peak power of 370 kW (nominal long-term power – 260 kW) with two-speed transmission Volvo. ΜM=850 N•m ΜM, Respectively, on the rear axle is equal to 28 kN•m. Li-ion battery with a capacity of 200-300 kWh provides a range of up to 200 km are two different systems of charging: CCS2 DC with a maximum output of 150 kW charging or charging AC low power with the maximum charging power of 22 kW. Time of full charging (300 kWh) is: with CCS2 at a power of 150 kW approximately 1.5 hours, charging at low power is approximately 10 hours.
FE Electric also has two different charging systems: charging system CCS with power charging constant current of up to 150 kW and the charging system of low power AC to 22 kW.
P. S. the Theme of garbage trucks with low cabs and high, respectively, with the electric drive is becoming increasingly popular in Europe. So presented Scania in södertälje chassis low cab L-class (albeit without the actuator) and the Spanish firm Irizar bus introduced a hybrid ie chassis truck 6x2, low cab, under equipment utility bodies.
In addition to the electric drive it is additionally equipped with a gas engine and tanks for the methane, which increase the reserve. To release it will be at the new plant e-Mobility, which opened today may 11..
