On Federal highways will go to the caravans of trucks without drivers

A group of "Avtonet" intends to introduce a motion of unmanned convoys of trucks on Federal highways of the center of the country

As write "news" experts of the interdepartmental working group "Avtonet" conducted preliminary studies before starting on Federal highways of the Russian Federation the so-called "platooning", i.e. the movement of the unmanned convoys of trucks.

To prepare for the test platooning STI "Avtonet" is going to cooperate with major Russian car manufacturers and importers backbone of heavy vehicles. It is expected that in the future unmanned trains will leave in the past dangerous and undervalued the profession of truck driver. However, in the present truckers refer to this innovation very skeptical.

Preliminary studies conducted by experts "AutoNet", consider the draft by movement of the caravan from 8-25 trucks on Federal highways. Trucks from different manufacturers will be equipped with AI systems-driving, capable of driving trucks in a fully unmanned mode. The authors of the project say that the experiment platooning was postponed for a year due to the lack of approval by the Ministry of transport of the Russian Federation.

The area of the experiment, as conceived by STI "Avtonet" will spread to the Republic of Tatarstan, Moscow, Vladimir, Nizhny Novgorod and Novgorod region and other regions of Russia. It is also anticipated that unmanned convoys of trucks will ply on international route Moscow–Helsinki (obviously on the toll road M-11 – ed.).
