Heinrich Bussing – founder of the firm Büssing AG (became part of MAN) marks 175 years

Brunswick lion still can be seen on the radiator grills of trucks and buses from MAN, for us it is a long-standing tradition".
MAN and Büssing signed a partnership agreement to supply each other with components and create complementary product lines 17 Jan 1967. "This collaboration became the basis for subsequent merge," explains Mr. Dres, pointing to the longstanding ties that existed between the companies. In 1971, the MAN group took over the management of the company Büssing and then in 1972 purchased the plants Büssing in Brunswick and Salzgitter. "Salzgitter is still important for us production site. MAN has also used the experience Büssing, for example, in relation to the development under-floor engines for double-Decker buses," he adds.

How it all began: Henry Bussing founded his own company 115 years ago
In 1903, sixty years Henry Bussing together with his sons max and Ernst created the company Heinrich Büssing, Specialfabrik für Motorlastwagen, Motoromnibusse und Werk, Braunschweig (Specialized factory trucks, buses and engines Heinrich Bussing). Prior to that, he worked as a technical Director in the company on the development of railway signal systems Max Jüdel & Co. However, his passion has always been wheeled vehicles, especially trucks and buses. The talents of Businga, its innovation and entrepreneurial spirit soon made the company a prominent place in the emerging market of commercial vehicles.
It Bussing became Germany's first specialized manufacturer of trucks and buses. Numerous innovations and inventions of Bussing has led to considerable progress in the development and production of commercial vehicles.

In 1904 he began to produce chassis for the British market, putting in a few years 400 chassis to produce the first London double-Decker buses, which became the forerunners of the modern dabigatran. In just two years, Bussing began delivery of double-Decker buses in Berlin. In the same year, Brunswick company launched a partnership with Continental to develop the first pneumatic tyres for trucks and buses.

Also in 1935 was created a horizontal engine located under the cabin floor (first used on a commercial car in 1949), registered as an industrial design and protected by German patent.
