Chelyabinsk suggested that import-substituting snowcat

The growing popularity of winter sports and an increase in our country number of ski resorts in need of regular, high-quality service, contribute to the growing demand for this type of machine. The company "RM-Terex" continues to expand the range of machinery produced in the framework of the policy of import substitution. The "RM-Terex" reported that developing a new type of equipment for the preparation and maintenance of ski trails and biathlon stadiums – snowgroomers, i.e. "snowcat" factory "Chelyabinsk construction and road machines". At the beginning of 2019 issued the first experimental-industrial batch of 6 prototype super model РТ6. When you create РТ6 used the experience of European manufacturers, the new Russian snowcat turned out to be cheaper than those imported by at least 20%.

Snowcat РТ6 equipped with an active mill with hydraulic drive, which allows to smoothly change the speed of rotation of the rotor, and supplied with 4 metre blade with 12 degrees of freedom allows to handle all types of snow cover. Tracked vehicle with GVW of 6 tons is equipped with domestic diesel YAMZ-536 power of 260 HP and a hydrostatic transmission (an indispensable attribute of the design of this type of equipment as extra-wide caterpillar low pressure – ed.) allowing the machine to steplessly accelerate to 17 km/h and almost instantly change direction. The fuel tank capacity is 250 L.

All 6 prototypes aimed to test operation under real conditions in Russian ski stadiums. After completion of the test cycle will begin preparation for mass production of these snow-compacting roller technology.

The company plans also to develop and heavier 12-tonne super model РТ12, the development of which began in 2017. The first prototype was tested at ski resorts in Sochi. The second prototype will continue its testing in real conditions of operation in 2019. The first production samples of the 12-tonner will go to customers in the winter of 2020.

Development Director of "RM-Terex" Alexander Zinoviev said: "Thanks to the expertise and experience of our engineers, using modern methods and techniques for design, equipment production complex in Chelyabinsk under this project, the development and production of prototypes РТ6 it took six months. At such short notice we were able to develop design documentation, our suppliers could manufacture and supply us with components. It was important for us to catch the end of the winter season to receive the equipment in operation, to obtain feedback from services, preparing for the winter trails with the help of our machines."
