IVECO supported the opening of a plant for the production of biomethane in the French Testase

This allowed the company IVECO to present their vision of sustainable transportation of natural gas and biomethane as a key component in the energy transition for the transport sector. The presentation was held by the development Manager of the gas direction of IVECO in Europe, the Middle East and Africa Clement Chandon.

Brand President of IVECO, Pierre LAUTH said: "We believe that circular economy based on biomethane could provide an effective response to the demands of the fight against climate change and deteriorating air quality in cities. Our full line of vehicles Natural Power, running on biomethane can play a key role in this process. Projects like this prove that the concept of circular economy is a viable and effective solution to environmental problems that we face. A solution based on biomethane, can create jobs and reduce CO2 emissions. In addition, it is able to make the transition to sustainable road transport, while increasing energy independence of France and Europe".

The cycle provided by this project, starts at fields of the company's Pot au Pin Energie based leading manufacturer of carrot and leek Planète Végétal for the production of biomethane in Testase. For this biodigester use intermediate crops grown in the fields between autumn and early spring. After cleaning the biomethane enters the gas distribution network GRDF, which then delivers it to gas filling stations across the country. Gas vehicles, including delivery trucks of the supermarket chain Carrefour fuelled by biomethane and use it for transporting goods, thus completing the cycle of wasteless economy.
