In the course of an unmanned test of the concept truck Foton Driverless Super Truck made its first commercial flight in real traffic conditions.
Delivery of equipment and food for sportsmen training in the Olympic water Park Shunyi, was carried out at pre-planned 7-kilometer route.
So delivered China's first commercial cargo without driver
The Foton Motor company is among the first manufacturers in China to receive a license to conduct road tests of an unmanned cargo vehicle. Tests of the UAV include the development of algorithms of vehicle operation in various conditions – from traffic flow on highways to navigate in an urban environment. Special sections are processed algorithms work in tough conditions – uneven roads, slopes, lifts etc.
Robotrac installed a complete set of electronic systems with the function of recognition of pedestrians and road signs, monitoring the road markings, emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and also high-precision satellite positioning that allows the machine to navigate and make the right decisions.
During the tests in real traffic conditions, fulfilling the algorithms of actions in certain situations, robotrek accumulates a huge amount of traffic and the parametric information, which later will become the main perspective of logistics and transportation systems, and undoubtedly will be used for unmanned vehicles.
Working on unmanned cargo vehicle began in 2016, when the Corporation Foton Motor has established a JV with the world famous IT company Baidu. The concept truck Foton Truck Driverless Super refers to the fourth level by NHTSA, i.e., able to move without human intervention in all driving conditions. Autonomy and safety promote advanced software and high precision camera. As a result, the recognition accuracy of objects displayed on one of the highest indicators in the world, so pedestrians are detected in 95% of cases, and traffic lights – 99.9%.
And yet it seems that to develop Chinese robotrac there is still much, surely the remaining "unnoticed" 5% of pedestrians are of this fact very happy...
