In December passed the rumor that Russian driver Sergey Sirotkin could become one of the main pilots of the team "Formulas-1" Williams. Now it was officially announced the signing of a contract.

22-year-old Russian will partner canadian driver lance Stroll. As noted in Williams, Sirotkin made the team a strong impression during tyre tests in Abu Dhabi, where he first piloted FW40. The first race will be the Grand Prix of Australia. The trip is scheduled on March 25 (this will be the first race "Formula-1" this year).

In 2017 Sirotkin was made in "Formula 2" and participated in "the 24 hours of Le Mans." Previously, he noted in the program SMP Racing: in 2015, he began to participate in the GP2 series and in the first season was the best rookie, finishing the season in third position. In 2016, the Russian became a test-pilot of Renault F1.

Sergey Sirotkin earlier claimed the pilot "Formulas-1". For the first time about his appointment automotive media wrote back in the summer of 2013: he supposedly signed a contract with Sauber. However, it was limited to only test races.

"Not to say that I am happy and proud to join such a famous team like Williams. To get into it, it was necessary to do a great job, and I'm really happy and grateful to everyone who was involved. The result of our joint efforts was the fact that my dream came true and the team can rely on me: I will do everything that depends on me," — said Sergey Sirotkin.
