But it will remain just an experiment
Newly-launched sub-brand Cupra belonging to the Seat brand introduced the concept Cupra e-Racer. The novelty is described as "the first 100 percent electric racing car in the world", although it is actually electric racing cars have long held.
The car is built on the basis of the presented a year ago racing hatch Leon Cupra TCR, but in this case from the two-liter turbo engine was abandoned in favor of four electric motors. Their maximum power is rated at 408 horsepower, with short periods of time, it can jump up to 680.
Also Cupra e-Racer is equipped with a battery capacity of 65 kW⋅h. All other specifications are still classified: not indicated even an approximate dynamic capabilities racing car.
Compared to the Leon Cupra TCR new concept was more than 300 kg heavier due to the need to use large traction batteries. This significantly changed the weight distribution, if earlier, 60 % of the mass had on the front axle and 40% on the rear, now it's the opposite.
Yet fate Cupra e-Racer is not defined. Developers dream that someday this car will be able to participate in the TCR International series which will be a special electric class. While the Spanish concept is just a private experiment.
