Now drivers can check the state of alcoholic intoxication not only through the "purge", but with the help of blood test: July 3, entered into force the Federal law №62, who changed the note to article 12.8 Cao RF. If earlier intoxication was established for registration of alcohol in the exhalation from the calculation of 0.16 mg per liter of air, and from now on it can be fixed in the presence of at least 0.3 g per liter of blood.

Developed in 2017 the amendments are designed to address a gap in the law that allowed drunk drivers to get away with it. The fact is that up to this time the state of intoxication can be installed only from the calculation of the amount of alcohol in the exhaled air. It was necessary to blow into breathalyzers or stop the traffic police inspector, either in a medical institution (in the second case, the procedure is carried out twice with an interval of 15-20 minutes).

In some cases, health workers took blood samples from those drivers who, for one reason or another were not able to blow glomer. But the problem was that even the most outrageous dose of "green dragon" is not allowed by law is not allowed to recognize the driver drunk. This loophole was used by the perpetrators to pretend they are unconscious. Punishment avoided injured in accidents by drunk drivers.

New procedure of medical examination are described in the Ministry of health order No. 933н from 2015. Before blood sampling, the doctor must treat the skin with a sterile swab or cotton ball.
