Customs officers equated to the police and to inspectors of traffic police

In the final third reading the deputies adopted the law, according to which customs officers can stop cars. In fact, now the powers of the officers of the Federal customs service (FCS) is equated to the police and to inspectors of traffic police.

The new law amends the Code of administrative offences (Cao). Now the article 12.25. "Failure to meet requirement about granting of a vehicle or about a vehicle stop" among individuals, which you can stop the vehicle, also noted officials of the customs Department.

However, it is legal to use such right of customs officers will be able not everywhere, but only in the border regions of the Russian Federation. The basis for stop will be to test compliance with customs legislation. In particular, the FTS staff will be able to inspect the goods and accompanying documentation. According to the Deputy head of the Ministry of Finance Ilia Trunina, law reform needed to implement the new norms of customs regulation.

When non-compliance of customs officers to stop the motorist faces an administrative fine ranging from 500 to 800 rubles. 

Until now employees of FCS had no right to stop the car. For this procedure, customs officers were forced to resort to using the police.
