Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev at a meeting of Vladimir Putin with members of the government announced that the interior Ministry is preparing a "serious and tough" proposals, which are intended to reduce mortality on the roads.
The Minister said: "through the work we provide a number of very serious and hard of proposals aimed at lowering mortality rates during accidents. We rely on complex measures already taken and the upcoming application that will allow us to significantly reduce the mortality on the road."
So President Putin on 24 April signed a law to toughen penalties for those drivers who fled the scene of an accident with fatalities. From now on, such a violation is equal to driving while intoxicated and for him punishment in the form of deprivation of rights for a period of up to two years and fined ₽30 thousand drivers who left the scene of the accident, which killed two and more person, provides imprisonment for the term from four up to nine years with deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions for up to three years.
According to the Minister Kolokoltseva, these stricter penalties for the perpetrators of the accident, hit-and-run accident, will force drivers to assist the victims and increase their level of social responsibility.
On the question of the President about the dynamics of mortality in road accidents, the Minister said that this figure decreased from 19 persons per 100 thousand population up to 13 people per 100 thousand
Recall that the President instructed all costs to reduce road deaths with the current "uncivilized" 13 people per 100 thousand population up to the "civilized" 4 fatalities per hundred thousand citizens.
PS considering the upcoming Stripping roads from "drunken" and "crazy" drivers are obviously a number of positions on the traffic accident statistics (data 1gai.ru for 2018) and improve, that's just the pressure of only one of the drivers to achieve a threefold reduction of deaths on the roads is unlikely to do this, at least, to get it working road construction not only on highways but on secondary roads, and to improve awareness is not only pedestrians, but cyclists (especially the young), and it's not one year...
