The Russian discipline of drivers leaves much to be desired. Once again this was indirectly confirmed in traffic police: according to a fresh report by the head of the state traffic Inspectorate of MIA of Russia Mikhail Chernikov at the conference "About to pass", every tenth accident victims in our country is connected with departure on a strip of oncoming traffic.

Thus, in such an accident died the fourth died, that is about 5 thousand people from 19 thousand dead in 2017. a "Today, every tenth road accident with victims connected with departure on a strip of oncoming traffic, one in four died, and that from 19 thousand to 5 thousand were killed just in the fact that this maneuver was unsafe and a left on a strip of oncoming traffic, without relying on these or other consequences that came", — told Mr. Chernikov.

Also the head of the traffic police identified measures that could reduce this sad statistic. In his opinion, is required not only to teach drivers the correct move on the roadway, but a more responsible approach to road construction. In particular, you want to create a safe environment for motorists, including to improve coverage and time to apply the markings.

According to the statistics of the traffic police, in 2017 the number of deaths in accidents decreased by 6.5% to 18 979 people. Despite this, the mortality on the Russian roads remains one of the highest in Europe. In Russia, 100 000 citizens responsible for 13 fatal cases on the roads, while in Germany — only 3.9. In Denmark the figure is even lower at 2.7. However, according to the strategy road safety by 2024, the number of deaths in Russia it is planned to reduce more than three times, up to 4 people per 100,000. In other words, six years is expected to reach the level of modern Germany. Moreover, by 2030, the government is going to get rid of the mortality in accidents. With the same aim the Ministry of transport recently suggested doubling the cost of the road.
