The first time the new system will only work in Moscow

Up to this point to fine the motorist for lack of insurance policy could only be the police. However, in the coming months, Russia will start to operate an automatic check, based on traffic cameras.

This was in the context of a seminar on insurance, announced the Executive Director of the Russian Union of motor insurers (RAMI) Evgenie Ufimtsev. He said that initially the new system will start to operate in Moscow: an automatic check of the capital's drivers will be launched on 1 September. Gradually this feature will also apply to the regions.

While Mr. Ufimtsev not told which algorithm will work the new system. One of the key issues associated with limiting the amount of fines will be whether to write a resolution each camera, and so on of the offender or motorist will be punished only once per day.

Assessment Eugene Ufimtseva, at the moment in Russia from two to four million motorists driving without insurance. At the moment the penalty for the lack of policy is quite modest — 500 rubles. Experts believe that this encourages some drivers to abandon compulsory insurance.

The idea of checking the availability of the CTP with the help of traffic cameras being discussed by the government not the first year, but in may it was officially announced that this system will work until the end of 2018.

Earlier, the Central Bank told about the impending changes to insurance. It is expected that from August 31 will operate the new rate: the base rate boundary will be expanded by 20% in both directions. However, in most cases, insurers will choose the maximum possible rate, because now the market of compulsory insurance is considered to be unprofitable. In addition, there will be more coefficients that reflect the experience and age of the driver. At the same time, the maximum change of policy according to this criterion will be within 5 %.
