Driver, be careful on the move!
In honor of the International day of safety at level crossings traffic police conducted a number of activities in the regions jointly with local authorities and representatives of the railway community. The key objective of the campaign is to remind motorists that the crossing is one of the most dangerous sections of the road network.
Also, the traffic police checked the condition of the crossings. Unfortunately, not everywhere is used the necessary equipment in the form of barriers, machines, barriers and traffic lights.
On some crossings of Chita, where there is the most traffic inspectors conducted a review of the drivers for knowledge of traffic rules. The most disciplined drivers received prizes and information brochures.
Even brighter day was celebrated in Tomsk region, where the railroad tracks passed the part on the platform which was installed twisted body of the car collided with the train. The terrible consequences of such accidents showed Krasnoyarsk motorists: there, the police showed pictures of the damaged cars.
For 2018 on the railway occurred on 88 of the accident. In total killed 29 people and injured 98. According to the statistics of the traffic police, in most cases, such accidents occur as a result of gross violations of the rules of journey of railway crossings.
Surprisingly, many drivers don't know basic rules. For example, if at the crossing there is a barrier, traffic lights and audible alarm, the motion is strictly prohibited, if at least one of these systems activated. This means that even raised the barrier does not mean that you can drive: red light and siren sound is strictly prohibited.
Also the traffic police said that some drivers deliberately break the rules. For example, they may try to avoid the gate or slip on the red Sigal of the traffic light.
Often accidents happen at uncontrolled crossings. At the entrance to it, the driver must reduce speed and ensure the safety of the maneuver. You want to be doubly careful in poor visibility: night, fog, rain, snow and so on. Often motorists forget that multi-ton composition takes a lot of time to full stop: the stopping distance may exceed 1.5-2 kilometers!
Is it worth the lives of several winning seconds? Paradoxically, but just as many are trying to gain careless drivers who try to slip in front of a train.
