From 2016, drivers can pay administrative fines for most traffic violations half size: it is enough to repay the debt within 20 days from the date of the judgment. As have told in traffic police, this capability is in great demand among Russian motorists.

In total for the first six months of the current year in Russia was issued to 55.2 million in penalties for traffic violations. Nearly 54.1 million could pay off at a discount of 50 %. But another surprise: from the total number 31.9 million of fines were repaid with 50% discount.

In other words, 87% of the total number of paid administrative fines was paid at half the rate. This suggests two conclusions. First, the traffic police are losing almost half of the revenues due to the grace period and reduce the amount by half. Second, this measure encourages drivers as soon as possible to repay the "debt". The traffic police said that in this way the state could focus on the fight against truly malicious defaulters of penalties.

With it motorists can almost instantly get information about new fines, without waiting for receipt of a registered letter with a copy of the decision by mail.

Recently in the state Duma was introduced a bill that would allow to pay fines with a discount it will be possible after 20 days. He proposes to amend article 31.8 and 32.2 of the administrative code, which would enable to pay administrative fines in half if the mail came at the expiration of the 20 day period. To realise this opportunity the person brought to administrative responsibility, will have to file a petition.
