Such statistics leads the TMS
In a press-service of the Moscow Center of traffic organization (TMS) stated that the speed of movement of cars in Moscow for the last five years in the morning and evening peak hours increased by 12% and 8% respectively. The experts noted that improved statistics did not prevent the increase in the number of vehicles, no protracted work on the improvement of the streets, which is often limited to movement.
a "According to analysts' estimates of TMS, movement in Moscow over the past five years has improved despite a number of negative factors. Thus, the average speed of traffic in morning rush hour increased by 12% in the evening — 8 %. In particular, in 2017, the rate on the Dmitrov highway increased by 13% compared with the year 2016" — said the representatives of the TMS.
One of the main causes of "acceleration" of the capital's traffic called infrastructure improvements: the reconstruction of outbound motorways, construction of new interchanges, the introduction of intelligent transport systems. TMS also noted the setting up of traffic lights on outbound motorways for a safe and comfortable movement of public and private transport. This helped to increase movement speed by 3% last year alone.
In the period from 2010 to 2017, the number registered in Moscow and Moscow region cars has increased by one million and 7.7 million. At the same time, in the TMS talked about the increase in the number of economically active passengers in urban transport. This fact should indicate that motorists were more likely to use public transport to move around Moscow.
Interestingly, only recently published a study of the British company GoCompare, according to which Moscow is the "mirror" city in Europe. This is a bit early to the Russian capital ranked vtoroy place in the ranking of the research company INRIX. According to estimates, in 2017 the average Muscovite spent in traffic jams 91 hours. Worse situation in Los Angeles, whose residents had lost on average 102 hours.
