On the sidelines of the IV international conference "Safe road" Deputy Prime Minister Maxim Akimov told TASS that he has instructed the transport Ministry and the interior Ministry to analyze the possibility of increasing speed limits on Federal highways from 90 to 110 km/h.

He said: "the Ministry of transport jointly with the Ministry of interior until the end of 2019 to conduct an audit of the Federal road network subject to possible increase speed limit to 110 km/h".
According to him, first and foremost, the possibility of increasing speed limits may primarily on new highways and roads after a major overhaul.
Currently, outside of populated areas cars are allowed to travel at speeds up to 90 km/h and on roads that fall into the category of "highway", as well as on some sections of toll runs allowed speed 110 km/h and above.
Earlier the head of traffic police Mikhail Chernikov proposed to lower the speed limit for drivers who transport children for a 20 km/h is permitted.
