The width of the left lane on the national highway will narrow to 3.5 meters

Engineers Russian road research Institute (ROSDORNII) came to the conclusion that the width of individual lanes on the Russian highways you can play.
So, the width of the extreme left lanes on the highways (roads for high speed traffic and no traffic lights with interchanges in different levels) which have the right to move only cars it is proposed to narrow the current standard 3.75 meters to 3.5 meters. This is the case in the study by road research Institute, which became available to the media.

  the real recorded of "security clearances" (the dynamic space between moving vehicles) and medium width cars, the experts made a conclusion about the fact that on highways with six or more lanes width designed to travel exclusively in cars leftmost lanes may be narrowed to 3.5 m.
The researchers also stated that the speed and security of movement in this case, it wouldn't even change.
Naturally, scientists have made the conclusion about the fact that the width of the opposite, i.e. right-most lanes, which dominates the movement of commercial vehicles (trucks and buses) should not be changed in any case and should remain at the current level not be less than 3.75 m.
Engineers, road builders, it is reasonable to believe that the reduction of the width of the left strip will help to save substantial funds during the construction of motorways and will soon expand extremely necessary for the country network of expressways.
By the way, in the fall of 2018, the Ministry of transport has proposed to change the color of the road marking (particularly the double axis) from white to yellow. The Federation of automobile owners of such an idea is considered reasonable, as confirmed by international practice, for example, in Scandinavia.
