Company atmospheric V10 will be developed by Audi and Porsche bi-turbo V6
At the disposal of the British magazine Autocar appeared fresh spy photos of test prototypes of the second generation Audi R8 with new engine – developed jointly by Audi and Porsche "bi-turbosystems" working volume of 2.9 l with 90-degree collapse of the cylinder.
It is obvious that the current atmospheric motor V10, which German concern inherited from Lamborghini, at the moment already do not meet modern requirements, primarily for fuel consumption, so the transition "younger" engines of the line R8 to the turbo-measure in some degree forced.
Of course, accurate data on the motors yet, but it's safe to assume that serial German supercar will be at least two versions of engine power. Similar motors, for example, to develop the Audi RS4 450 HP, but the flagship coupe and Roadster powertrains will definitely be with a higher degree of pressurization – presumably with a power of about 500 HP
Another important factor of transition to the new R8 turbo – Chinese market (by the way, the world's largest), where the engine displacement is of paramount importance.
While the test prototypes of the R8 wheel on California roads, but the debut of new products from Audi is around the corner – presumably it will be Geneva’2018.
