Meet – Mercedes-Benz X-Class

In South Africa Mercedes-Benz has officially presented the long-announced pick-up the X-Class that you created in a common platform with the Nissan NP300 Navara (aka on the number of markets offered as Renault Alaskan), but in this is not the case with talking about the banal badge engineering – I  Nissan "Mercedes" of different interiors, outer body panels and even the track! All versions of X-Class will be offered only with a double cabin.

Dimensions of new items – 5340х1920х1819 mm, i.e. X Class 10 mm long, 70 mm wider and 14 mm higher than the Nissan platform. The wheelbase of models are identical (3150 mm), and here is a track from Mercedes-Benz is significantly wider – plus 62 mm front and 55 mm rear plus. Clearance in 202 mm European version for a fee increase to 222 mm, and this suspension will be standard for Africa and other emerging markets.

The Germans were prepared to the premiere of X-Class three basic versions – the initial Pure (pictured) with unpainted bumpers, forged 17-inch wheels and a simplified finish, minor version Progressive (painted in body color bumpers, alloy wheels, a richer interior trim) and the top version of the Power (title photo) – led headlamps, chrome trims on the bumpers, extensive list of equipment and a partially leather interior.

The chassis is similar to the "Navarre" with double cab – front independent suspension on double wishbones, and rear – 5-link dependent, payload 1100 kg, all versions will be only with spring suspension.

The list of equipment on all versions includes seven airbags, air conditioning, ESP and a basic media system with 5-inch screen and USB in the list of options – locking rear differential, separate climate control, modern electronic "assistants" driver, all-round visibility, advanced media system with a screen diagonal of 8.4 inches in Internet and its own SIM card.

The original X-Class will be offered only with the Japanese motors – either a turbo with a volume of 2.3 liters in versions X 220 d (one unit, 163 HP, 403 N·m) or X 250 d (two turbines, 190 HP, 450 N·m), or the naturally aspirated petrol engine capacity of 2.5 liters (165 HP, 230 N·m, version X 200) and uncontested rear-wheel drive (some markets).

In standard rear – wheel drive, for the proposed surcharge is to be forced to connect a full drive. Choice of transmissions – 6-speed "mechanics" or 7-step "automatic" Jatco for X 250 d.

Later, in the summer of 2018 year, colours will appear and the top version of the X 350 d, with a turbo-diesel Mercedes-Benz V6 OM 642 3.0 liter (258 HP, 550 N·m), 7-speed branded automatic transmission 7G-Tronic and the all wheel drive system with distribution the axes of 40:60.

Assembly of the model will begin in late 2017 year Spanish Nissan plant in Barcelona, with prices in Germany have already been announced, from 37 294 euros. In 2019, will begin production on the Argentine plant of Renault for Latin America. In Russia X-Class will also appear, but not until the spring of next year.
