Volvo has published data on the XC40 crossover

After the premiere of the XC60 crossover from the Swedish company on stage premiere of the compact crossover Volvo XC40. The biggest news is that the production car will be slightly different from the Volvo Concept 40.1 (title photo). The novelty will be built using the platform of CMA, created in collaboration with Geely.

Volvo believes that the set of safety systems Volvo XC40 will be the safest car among compact crossovers.

The modular platform CMA, there are certain features – the only transverse-engine, front or full drive, two types of rear suspension, as well as the possibility of installing a hybrid or electric powerplant. The compact SUV will have a length in the area of 4.4 m.

Volvo XC40 will be equipped with petrol engine capacity of 1.5 liters with turbocharger. This same 1.5-liter engine with three cylinders will form the basis for the hybrid versions. Most likely, the crossover XC40 will be the powerplant T5 Twin Engine with the internal combustion engine and an electric motor with front-wheel drive. Accurate data on other power plants XC40 Swedes are not published.

Based on the teaser of the production model of the crossover, it is seen that the interior design will be the same as in the crossover XC60 or XC90. XC40 will get the center console with a vertical screen, multimedia, touch-button climate control and a digital instrument panel. One difference in the images seen a 2-spoke steering wheel, which was not yet in the new models.

Interestingly, IAA’in Frankfurt, 2017 Volvo is not involved, not yet named and the date of the premiere. However, the Swedes were going to present the Volvo XC40 to the end of the year – maybe they'll bring it in Guangzhou or Los Angeles.
