UAZ resumed work on the creation of the first crossover

Rumors about the development of the first crossover under the brand UAZ appeared a few years ago. Then the network began to go patent the image of prototypes and concepts. However, during the crisis the project was put on the far shelf. Only recently actively working on the development of parketnika was again renewed. This publication reports News RCI.

The project is called UAZ-3170. The vehicle needs to get the bearing body (usually "UAZ" have a frame structure). It is expected that the suspension will be unified with the architecture, "a single modular platform", which was developed in the framework of the project "Cortege". If you believe the insider information, the size of the UAZ-3170 is comparable to the Toyota RAV4 and other midsize crossovers: its length will be 4.6 meters. At the same time, some other parameters are knocked out of habitual representations. In particular, if the data on the wheelbase length of 2 850 mm is confirmed, the crossover UAZ will be one of the Champions in the class (normally this value is considerably less). Ground clearance will likely exceed 200 mm.

Fresh information about the technical equipment prospective model has not appeared. Previously cruised rumors about the preparation of the 2.5-liter atmospheric engine, outstanding 145 horsepower, and "turboservice" volume of 2.3 liters, is available in versions with a capacity of 150 and 170 forces. Both engines can be developed on the basis of ZMZ-406.

On the exterior of the first crossover domestic brands less known. The media repeatedly published as patent images and spy photos of full-size models, but the high probability that the final version will look different. Supposedly all the known prototypes were developed by the Institute of US, however, the UAZ refused them in favor of the version from the Italian Studio Pininfarina.
