The third generation Acura RDX will change significantly

Crossover Acura RDX cannot be called a bestseller, but he is in stable millet. A year in the United States sold an average of 50,000 such machines, among the competitors better odds only Lexus NX. In order not to lose loyal customers, the Japanese brand decided to thoroughly upgrade your model.

In fact, the new Acura RDX is a more American car than the Japanese. And it's not in the market: for the development of technical parts were answered by the staff of Acura in the United States. At the same time, the shape of the engaged Studio Acura Design in Los Angeles.

In comparison with the predecessor, the wheelbase of the crossover is increased by 64 mm, while the overhangs are a bit shorter. Slightly wider spaced wheel, whereby should be created a more squat look.

A lot of new products foreseen from the technical point of view. For the Acura RDX was designed the updated platform, which allowed to reduce weight and at the same time improve body rigidity (exact data not yet published). Under the hood, installed a new two-liter turbo engine family is a DOHC VTEC. According to the developers, at low RPMs it will provide 40% more torque than the old 3.5-liter "aspirated".

Another important novelty will be the ten step automatic transmission. Acura RDX is the first vehicle in the segment with such a difficult CAT. No cost and no signature all-wheel drive Super-Handling All Wheel Drive that will be able to change the thrust vector.

While RDX has the status of a prototype. This means that the production version may vary in detail, but in General it is exactly the same car.

The production of the new model will begin in the summer, a little later start sales in the USA. In Russia, the crossover will not be delivered. Acura already tried to deliver the previous-generation RDX, but the success of this undertaking failed.
