Car company, and then they say about the imminent advent of drones. Cars with fully Autonomous control should appear within a few years, and now leading engineers in the world are struggling with the development of such systems. In the future smart cars will even lose the usual controls. Meanwhile, Toyota introduced a drone prototype equipped with a double set of steering wheels and pedals.

Research Toyota Research Institute presented the achievements of the project Platform 2.1 on the example of an unusual prototype, built on the base Lexus LS. The sedan was complemented by a modern automatic and a whole range of different cameras and sensors. One of the main roles went to the lidar, is able to adjust the angle of view to focus attention in certain directions.

System Platform 2.1 is able to operate in two modes: Chauffeur ("driver, driver") and the Guardian ("guardian"). In the first case, the machine operates in a fully Autonomous mode, and the driver becomes just a passenger. When activating the Guardian to operate a vehicle is necessary to the person, but the electronics will be to insure it.

Dual set of controls is required for testing the system operation Guardian. In this case, the left will sit the engineer, who will monitor the correct operation of your computer. To drive is the right driver, which at some point allegedly begin to fall asleep or be distracted. The challenge unmanned systems — time to recognize the signs of fatigue and to intervene in management.

While Toyota does not report when unmanned vehicles will go on sale. The Japanese company plans to introduce some features to the opening of the Summer Olympic games of 2020, which will be held in Tokyo.
