For the Porsche 911 GT2 RS this engine will boost to 650 HP and will be equipped with water injection system into the intake manifold. This technology is already used on the BMW M4 GTS.
The idea itself is not new and came from the distant past. The essence of the process is that the intake manifold is injected a small amount of water, which evaporates, cools the fuel air. Of course in physics for grade 7 we know that the lower the temperature of the gas, so it is denser. Therefore, the degree of filling of the cylinders of the engine with a similar system will be higher and with it the completeness of combustion and power plant as a whole. In addition, dramatically reduced risk of detonation, and this is the way to increase the compression ratio and again, the possibility of increasing the power of the internal combustion engine.
As to the mass of the Porsche 911 GT2 RS, the engineers have worked very well. Is considered normal if the automaker is releasing a "hardcore" version of the model reduces its weight relative to the "donor" at least 100 kg. So the GT2 RS shows when weighing 1500 kg 1675 kg Turbo S.
