Updated Ford Edge will come to Europe with a powerful diesel engine

238 diesel powers record by the standards of the segment

Just a month ago were presented with an updated version of the crossover Ford Edge. The main technical novelty is a modification of the ST from 340-horsepower 2.7-liter V6, equipped with dual turbo. Now restyled Edge announced for the European market. And here has not done without surprises.

The exterior of the Ford Edge is already known, and the specifications for Europe there is nothing radically new. But residents can buy a SUV with a unique power unit — two-liter diesel engine series EcoBlue. It is equipped with dual turbo, which bring maximum power up to 238 horsepower. The torque value is not specified.

Ford engineers said to use an alloy consisting of Nickel by 30 %. Such material is made the body of the exhaust manifold and turbo. A distinctive feature of the original metal is increased and heat resistance: these elements can be heated to 860 degrees Celsius. The new engine complies with the exhaust standard Euro 6.

New engine turned out to be one of the most powerful among the two-liter diesel engines. Among mass models more develops only the Volkswagen Passat, for which in Europe the available 240-horsepower version of the 2.0 TDI.

Also buyers can choose the Ford Edge and with a 150 - or 190-horsepower two-liter diesel modification of the engine. The prerogative of the older versions will remain eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
