The new Peugeot 508 has turned into a liftback

Just yesterday we talked about the early premiere Peugeot 508, whose photos were leaked online, as today the French company officially presented the novelty. The main sensation was the fact that this is not a sedan.

Peugeot has made the right calculations: in D segment sedans for a long time feel insecure, and this is especially evident evident in Europe. That is why the second generation of the Peugeot 508 has turned into a liftback. And let the car indistinguishable from a conventional sedan, but the trunk access is more convenient. And now Peugeot have a reason to compare your car with the Audi A5 Sportback and BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe.

Here's another surprise: compared to the predecessor, the Peugeot 508 length decreased from 4 to 830 4 750 mm. And although the rapid growth of cars in the past until such reports are still rather a rarity than a trend. And yet the French are proud that they have managed to reduce the drag coefficient to 0.26.

In the native Peugeot 508 rate will be made on diesel BlueHDi version 1.5 (130 HP) and 2.0 BlueHDi (160 or 180 horsepower). Also the novelty will be sold with a 1.6-liter gasoline turbo engine family PureTech. It will be available in two versions forces: 180 and 225 horsepower. The base diesel version will be equipped with six-speed manual transmission, the rest is put eight-speed automatic.

The start of European sales of the Peugeot 508 is scheduled for September. The term of entering the Russian market yet to be announced.
