In St. Petersburg began production of the new generation Kia Rio

According to Director for external relations, OOO "Hyundai Motor manufakturing Rus" Viktor Vasilyev, made on Tuesday at the conference AutoInvest in St. Petersburg, started the preproduction of the new-generation Kia Rio model range in 2017.

Is currently preparing the release of a pilot batch for running technology to the factory of the company under the St. Petersburg. Mass production will begin this summer. To the end of the 2017 years, the company plans to produce about 100 thousand cars. And just the current year is planned to produce about 220 thousand cars Hyundai Solaris and Kia Rio.

Judging by the photo, the novelty looks very different from its predecessor. As already produced dnoplatfonts Hyundai Solaris, it has the exterior, designed in new "acute" corporate style. It in the first determines the catching eye double radiator shell. The lower grille has a considerable size. And the top veneer performs only a decorative function, since there are no through holes.

For greater differences from the  brother predecessor, the new Kia will get some exterior body parts and lighting equipment from Chinese Kia K2. According to all designers tried to make the new product more aggressive look than have a balanced Solaris.

The new interior for Russia is made in a restrained and "European" style, in contrast a few futuristic interior Chinese version.

It should be noted that quite a controversial decision to postpone a platform for placement of rear license plate with the tailgate on the rear bumper. Given the realities of traffic in Russia, it may not come on the taste of domestic motorists.

On the technical characteristics of a novelty while there is no information. However, given the desire of firms to the unification of their brands for the mechanical part, we can assume that, most likely, will be used the same engines as on the new Hyundai Solaris, and 1.4 L., 100 HP and a 1.6 l, 123 HP, the same will transmission, 6-speed manual and"automatic".
