The first time the new engine family EA211 saw the light at the premiere of a restyled version of the Volkswagen Golf, which was held almost a year ago at the motor show in Paris. Part of the car group has moved to a new engine, but to Octavia before he got just now, after the restyling.

Features of the new engine has an increased piston stroke, new shifters and a turbocharger with variable turbine geometry, and most importantly – the ability to work in an economical cycle Miller with disabling half of the cylinders, which allows to save on fuel – the old engine of 1.4 liters, the average is 5.2 l in the case of a manual transmission and 1.5 l – 4.9 l/100 km.

Interestingly, in the case of a 7-speed "preselection" DSG fuel consumption of the old and new engines is not changed to 4.9 liters per 100 kilometers. Power and maximum torque has not changed – 150 HP and 250 nm, respectively. Expected did not change and the maximum speed is 219 km/h, and the dynamics up to "hundred" was even worse than 0.1.

In any case this engine in Russia will not be delivered – we "Octavia" will continue to equip the time-tested 1.4-liter TSI turbo of the previous generation, despite the fact that in Russia most of the "Octavius" is sold with a 1.6 liter engine with distributed injection.
