In Frankfurt the German company showed the hydrogen crossover
The German company has brought to the IAA in 2017 hydrogen crossover Mercedes-Benz GLC F-Cell. On the back there is an inscription EQ Power – this means that the car is built using the latest technologies and is equipped with two power sources – in addition to lithium-ion batteries, installed fuel cell that converts hydrogen into electricity.
The combination of two power sources at GLC F-Cell allows to speed up the process of refueling/recharging the vehicle – to fill two tanks of carbon with hydrogen takes only three minutes. Their capacity is 4.4 kg of hydrogen this is enough for 437 km. Electrical motor power crossover Mercedes-Benz 200 HP, ΜM 350 nm.
The important point is the compactness of the hydrogen unit is placed in the engine compartment on the attachment points of the internal combustion engine. In addition, the Mercedes-Benz developers were able to reduce the use of platinum in fuel cells by 90%.
Battery for Mercedes-Benz GLC F-Cell gives a total of 13.8 kW. Installed it in the back and can be pack has been recharged from a home outlet. When using the charging station the battery will charge in 1.5 hours.
The driver of the crossover GLC F-Cell will be able to choose from different driving modes – Eco, Comfort and Sport. In addition, you can select one of four operating modes of hybrid installation: Hybrid – F-Cell – Battery – Charge. The hydrogen car is equipped with a full range of advanced security systems.
As for the appearance of hydrogen crossover, it is a little different from the standard model – new radiator grille, decals F-Cell, new bumpers and 20-inch wheels.
Given that currently there is no infrastructure in the whole of Germany only 30 hydrogen filling stations. On mass the market launch Mercedes-Benz GLC F-Cell can not imagine, although the car is fully ready for mass production.
