To keep the leading position in the market of mid-size premium crossovers, the Japanese are preparing to release a luxury Lexus RX with three rows of seats and seven seats. Lately Lexus has released several charged models, but for them the world is large enough, because the brand needs to catch up in the family segment.

Lexus RX fourth generation with factory designation AL20 created on the platform K, debuted in late 2015 (in the photos – the usual 5-seat Lexus RX 450h for the American market). It is understandable, 7-local modification of the large crossover is a prerequisite for any automaker who wants to conquer the US market. According to insider information, to have a place for the installation of two additional seats, the designers lengthen the rear overhang of 160 mm (the length of this version is estimated at 5050 mm) and the wheelbase will probably remain the same – 2790 mm.

Knowing the dimensions of the current Lexus RX – 4890х1895х1690 – we can assume that when placing the third row of seats can arise in a purely geometric problem. In principle, plus 160 mm not so much, and from this it appears that for the rear riders about the comfort of have to forget, at least adult passengers. Potential buyers, hungry for the ultimate in comfort for all seven passengers, it is necessary to pay attention to the Lexus LX.

Premiere 7-seater model Lexus RX is planned for January 2018. For the U.S. market will be available in two versions – RX 350 L with the 3.5-liter V6 power of 295 HP and RX 450h L with a hybrid power plant with total capacity of 308 HP Appears or not extended Lexus RX in Russia, is now known.
