The Atlas concept Volkswagen Cross Sport is available in two hybrid options

Soon in Russia will begin selling large crossover Volkswagen Teramont. Some other markets, including the United States, this model is called the Atlas. Now on its basis made the Atlas concept Cross Sport.

The novelty is built on the same chassis, meaning that it is based on a front-drive MQB platform, is well-known in more compact models of the company. Compared to the Volkswagen Teramont/Atlas novelty has a more athletically-built body. Designers banked rear roof pillar forward, so that the Atlas Cross Sport fit to compare with the BMW X6.

The Volkswagen Cross Atlas Sport used the same 3.6-liter V6 and Volkswagen serial Atlas. He still develops 280 horsepower. However, the concept of the internal combustion engine supplemented by two electric motors: a 55-strong front and 116-strong rear. The total power increased to 360 HP. Dispersal with 0 to 96 km/h (100 mph) is given a lot of crossover in 5.4 seconds. "Maximka" — 208 km/h.

Atlas also Cross Sport has got Li-ion battery capacity of 18 kWh Traction battery installed in the center tunnel. The car can travel up to 41 kilometres in all-electric mode.

Also Atlas for Volkswagen Cross Sport will be provided a second version which would be "soft" hybrid. It uses the petrol engine and electric motors, but their power is reduced to 314 horsepower. The battery is also much easier — with a capacity of 2 kWh, the Maximum speed was retained, but the acceleration to the first hundred slowed to 6.5 seconds.

Most likely, in the foreseeable future, Volkswagen Cross Sport Atlas will become a production model. Not the fact that the car will be offered in such a powerful and fast hybrid versions, but the exterior will probably be close to the concept.

In Russia Volkswagen Teramont will cost from 2 799 000 rubles. In the basic version the car is equipped with 220-horsepower two-liter turbo engine family TSI. For a model with atmospheric V6 with 3.6 liters and 280 horsepower will have to pay 200,000 rubles more.
