In the beginning of this year occurred photos leaked the new Mercedes-Benz G-class. Now took place the official presentation of the new product, which was truly welcome: the current generation of the car comes up from 1990!

As expected, the manufacturer has decided to keep the classic appearance. Moreover, the German designers have brought the worship of the old way almost to the point of absurdity: all body panels here have been developed (the only exception is the hood the spare wheel), but to distinguish the new G-class from the old can only the expert. Made of aluminum, only the doors, wings and bonnet, the rest of the elements of the used steel.

If we talk about looks, then the future generation is easiest to identify by new led headlamps and lanterns, doors with rounded edges and moved the fuel tank flap. The back of the SUV was 53 mm longer, 121 mm wider. It is possible to increase the supply of places in lap 38 mm front and 150 mm rear. One of the key goals of the developers was to create a more spacious salon, and they deal with it.

In addition, engineers increased the stiffness of the frame by 34% and increased wheelbase. And front suspension "Gelika" first became independent: it is based on a double leverage. Air suspension appeared: for the sake of comfort was left of the spring (the Mercedes-Benz felt that the air suspension is the maximum lumen would be too hard).

Despite significant upgrades, the G-class is a true SUV. Ground clearance is 270 mm, overhangs are minimal, available all three (Central, front and middle) of the mechanical locking differentials.

CAT updated: the number of speeds in the "automatic" has increased from seven to ten. But the engine is still old. Currently declared only one version — G 500. It will save 422-strong "eight" volume of four liters. Following the market will see a 2.9-liter diesel modification.

The price of the new Geländewagen in Germany will start from € 107 040,50 (7 418 000 rubles at the current exchange rate). Sales will begin in June, then updated the legend will be available in Russia.
