The chief designer of Geely, Peter Horbury offers to send traditional minivans to the dustbin of history
In addition to the mass variety of concept electric cars of different degree of steepness of the design and quirky performance was a place in Shanghai and more traditional vehicles. One of the most striking examples of this kind – Geely MPV Concept, created a new international team under the leadership of Peter Horbury, a former Volvo chief designer, now head of the design Bureau Geely.
Of course, to fully appreciate the work of Horbury can be had on the standard version (waiting for a year and a half), although at the conceptual MPV obvious that the styling of future trends will be done in a strict European style, but with maximum attention to detail. He draws attention, for example, the exquisite three-dimensional pseudo-grille with no visible holes for access of air, mimicking the shape of the new logo of Geely.
The roof of the concept Geely glass with electrochromic coating that changes transparency depending on weather conditions (on a points-chameleons). The role of side rear view mirrors comply with the slim brackets of the camera, the image which is displayed on the screen of the media system.
The interior is equally minimalist, like the styling, but the detailing is very nicely done and again, reminiscent of a European concept cars of recent years. The creators compare the interior of the conceptual model with business-class private jet – a very flattering comparison. However, the production version interior will definitely be different, and hinged side doors will remain the prerogative of the concept.
