Chinese compact sedan enters the world market

Recently General Motors announced the start of sales of the popular in China model Chevrolet Cavalier in foreign markets, and decided to start not from Southeast Asia, that would be logical from the point of view of logistics, and ... Mexico!

Sedan segment B Plus (dimensions 4544х1779х1467 mm, wheelbase 2600 mm) in China, successfully competes, for example, Ford Escort, Hyundai Verna and a host of sedans, local brands, and the leadership of the American concern rightly decided that such a car will have to court other emerging markets.

Front-wheel drive Cavalier for China are equipped with modern petrol engine capacity of 1.5 liters with dual phase shifters, developing 113 HP (same motor mounts now on the Uzbek Ravon), 5-speed manual gearbox or 6-step "automatic" and collect JV SAIC-GM in Shanghai.

Prices and specifications for Mexico has not yet announced, although it is unlikely that the parameters of the car will change a lot to the export options. For example, in China, Cavalier is from 79 to 109 900 900 yuan ($11 750–$16 161) depending on configuration.

Interestingly, over time the model can get in Russia, despite the departure mass of Chevrolet models from our market, but under the brand name... Ravon! This may be the case if the Assembly Cavalier will be deployed on Uzbek joint venture GM-Uzbekistan, especially since the engine and transmission are localized and similar models Cobalt (in Russia – Ravon R4).
