Last year, BMW showed a concept car X2 Concept (lower photo), and this year at the Frankfurt motor show will bring a production model of the BMW X2. Today published images of the production car X2 from documents filed with Japanese patent office.

The good news is the fact that the serial BMW X2 will not be too different from the concept. Of course, the car has lost the striking elements of the stabilizer body and mesmerizing mirrors, but the whole style preserved. In addition, it is clear that the doors have handles X2, and a strip of hard plastic around the perimeter of the body is not so bright as last year's exhibition of the instance.

It is seen that the BMW X2 has nothing to do with X4 or X6, but it looks still great – emotionally it can be compared with the Volkswagen Sirocco. In fact, the BMW X2 will be built on the platform UKL, which is a basis for X1 and the MINI Countryman, with a wheelbase of 2670 mm. This means that the compact coupe-crossover is a transverse-engine, complete or just front-wheel drive and the engine range similar to the BMW X1.

At the premiere of the concept car X2 in Paris, senior Vice President of BMW design Adrian van Hooydonk said that X2 is designed primarily for active people who are looking for the perfect combination between driving pleasure and practicality.

Concept car BMW X2 Concept was presented at last year's motor show in Paris

It is known that the BMW X2 will be a version with a 231-horsepower engine, the same as on the JCW Countryman, but the top version will probably be the BMW X2 М35і capacity of about 300 HP with a package from M Performance. About the price of the car is not yet known. It is confirmed that the start of sales of BMW X2 in Europe is scheduled for early 2018, then, most likely, the model will appear and in Russia.
