Automobile companies are currently studying the possibility to replace the usual trinkets in a special app that customers can download to your smartphone. About it to Agency Reuters said a member of the Board of Directors of the company, responsible for sales Ian Robertson.

The usual ignition switch goes into oblivion – if you recall, even in inexpensive cars of different brands it is possible to meet specifications with engine start button and Keyless entry in the car. In the near future, the ignition key may become an anachronism. And who is the engine of progress? That's right – premium brands. So, BMW is considering a mobile application to remove the ignition keys.

People with a smartphone can unlock, open and start the engine. We all know about Remote Control Parking system (RCP), in which the client, using a special key FOB operates the car remotely. Perhaps the BMW engineers already know how to install the program in the smartphone.

If a special application is clear, then there remains one question – what will use technology for data transmission. Maybe it will be the mobile Internet, and maybe Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. It is possible that the BMW will go the way of Tesla and uses the technology of near field communication (NFC).

Mobile apps and new features is good. Yes, there is only one problem – what if the smartphone is the battery. Then on foot?
