AeroMobil – a car, and plane

At the exhibition Top Marques-2017 in Monaco Slovak company AeroMobil introduced the production of real aircar

The company AeroMobil from Slovakia, founded in 2010, presented at the exhibition of luxury Top Marques in Monaco prepared for serial production of the flying car under the unambiguous title AeroMobil 4.0. "Four" in the title refers to the fourth generation, and if the first three iterations and remained prototypes, but presented in Monaco aircar declared by the founders already as pre-production variant and the stand already taken the first orders.

The design of paramount importance was paid to the aerodynamic properties – after all, first and foremost, is a subcompact plane with folding wings. Dimensions double AeroMobil 4.0 – 5998х2248х1500 mm, payload capacity – 240 kg, maximum takeoff weight – 960 kg.

A full cycle of transformation from car to plane and back again takes only 3 minutes. For maximum ease of construction is widely used carbon fiber and other composite materials, and the wings mounted solar panels.

Interestingly, AeroMobil 4.0 is a hybrid, and according to the creators in car mode is activated only the motor (total power of the two motor-wheels – 80 kW), and aerorail use of a conventional internal combustion engine – petrol turbo R4 300 HP, torque through the gearbox the screw at the rear of the aircar and pozarastali battery.

The maximum speed in road mode – quite decent 160 km/h, acceleration to 100 km/h takes 10 seconds, while fuel consumption does not exceed 4.2 liters per 100 km on the European NEDC cycle.

In airplane mode, the aeromobil is able to overcome as much as 750 km to refuel at a speed of 360 km/h, and in the case of an emergency parachute is provided in the upper part of the cabin, put the whole aircar.

In the cabin (or cabin, in aviation, as you like) all as close to a normal car, although the steering wheel still form closer to the wheel (which is just not surprising). All necessary information is displayed on several screens – one very large in front of the driver/pilot, smaller in the center of the dashboard, and a third tablet on the console. Cab previous versions were much closer to the plane because of the abundance of devices and a plurality of tumblers.    

It is planned to collect 500 machines, of which the first 25 are in special execution Founders Edition. The question price – from 1 200 000 euros and the first deliveries to customers are planned for 2020.
