Agency Russian Automotive Market Research (RAMR) conducted an analysis of the dynamics of average prices for top selling new SUVs (crossovers and SUVs) in 2019. On the basis of the recommended prices and the average exchange rate of $ to a long way in 2013, 2016 and 2019 models were divided by price ranges in dollars.
The following table clearly shows that in the current 2019 compared to 2013, the majority of SUV models moved to the closest lower-price range. However, some models are "stepped" even through the price range (they are indicated with a yellow arrow): for example, in 2013 for Mitsubishi ASX or Nissan Qashqai requested $30-40 000, and in 2019 – is "only" $20-25 000 and domestic UAZ Patriot "took off" from the range of $20-25, 000 in the range of $10-15 000.
Naturally, the chart comparing the year 2019 from 2016, gives the opposite picture, for most models there is an increase in the dollar price of new crossovers and SUVs. So, Volkswagen Tiguan cool jumped at the price range of $20-25 000 through the "step" in the range of $30-40 000. A similar jump from the range of $40-50, 000 in the range of $60-80 000 made Volkswagen Touareg and Mercedes-Benz GLC-class.
Characteristically, the bestseller of the market for premium full-size SUVs Toyota Land Cruiser 200 in comparison with 2013 year fell, moving from the top of the range $100 000 – 200 000 in the range of $80 000 – 100 000 (actually even lower), as compared to 2016, by contrast, moved from the range of $60-80, 000 in the range of $80 000 – 100 000 i.e. rose.
At the opposite end of the table is the Russian LADA 4x4 was able to stay in the range of $10 000 as of 2013 and 2016. But its closest competitor Chevrolet Niva with 2013 fell out of the range of $15-20, 000 in the range of $10-15 000, and since 2016 – has risen back from the range for less than $10 000 in the range of $10-15 000. In turn, Renault Duster in 2013 went down with $15-20, 000 in the $10-15 000, and from 2016 and remained in the same range. The absolute bestseller of SUV market – compact Hyundai Creta in 2013 was not yet on the market, and from 2016 moved up from the range of $10-15, 000 in the range of $15-20 000.
