The mass of the Russian electric car – the Nissan Leaf or Mitsubishi i-MiEV?

A fleet of electric cars in Russia is still extremely small, so that even a leader to define it is not easy

According to the analytical Agency "AUTOSTAT", the Park of electric cars in Russia in the middle of 2017-was 1133 units of which one third was accounted for by Moscow and Moscow region (367 units), but sales in 2017 amounted to 95 units. 

The largest number of electric vehicles are concentrated in the Primorsky region – 21% of the total fleet EV in the country and in Moscow – 20%. In addition, in the top-5 regions by the number of electric vehicles in the Park also includes Khabarovsk Krai (9%), Krasnodar Krai (7%) and Moscow oblast (5%).

According to the survey PwC Russian consumers first of all pay attention to the availability of battery charging stations – so said 24% of respondents of all age categories, 20% paid attention to the price, and 18% interested in the possible fuel savings. While respondents in the 20-34 years old at least paid attention to the economic factor. Reliability winter operation of the electric vehicle concerned 15% of respondents, because the mileage at low temperatures is reduced by 30-50%. Another 15% of respondents concerned about the duration of charging, whereas in the elderly – only 11%. Also, approximately 11% of respondents (in Russia!) going to buy an electric car in the next 5-7 years, and in this matter, and young (20-34 years) and Mature (35-54 years) the respondents are the same (13%), but the share willing in the elderly group (55 years and older) no more than 5%.

In Primorsky Krai, the share of Nissan Leaf electric vehicles in the Park is 97%, in Khabarovsk region – 96%, and in Krasnodar region – 63%.

However, data of the "AUTOSTAT info" are significantly different, for example, a fleet of Nissan Leaf electric cars were on 31.12.2017 only 30 units (including 12 units in the far Eastern Federal district and 11 units in Moscow), and was leading Mitsubishi i-MiEV with 192 units of which 127 units in Moscow.
