A week ago we summed up in 2017: the new car market rose by 11.9 %. In total, our country has sold 1 595 737 cars. But the increase was not uniform. As analysts estimated the Russian Automotive Market Research, demand increased mainly in the budget and mass segments, while premium brand almost do not feel any improvement.

According to statistics, in the public sector the growth amounted to 19,4 %. The budget segment grew by 14.7 %. The increase in sales in the premium class was significantly lower — plus of 5.8 %.

The mass segment continues to occupy a dominant position in the market: by the end of 2017 its share was 67.4 % (in 2016 — 66 %). The budget sector accounts for 23.2% of sales, and the year this value has not changed. The share of the segment of premium cars has reduced from 10.4% to 9.4 %.

If you look at the breakdown by brands in the premium class growth was demonstrated by BMW (+9 %), Volvo (+26 %), Infiniti (+10 %), Jaguar (+5 %) and Cadillac (+7%). Implementation of Mercedes-Benz remained at the same level in 2016, and Audi sales fell just 18 %.
