In September, according to AEB, the Russian market of new passenger cars and LCVs grew by 6.2% to 9162 units to the same month last year, amounting to 157 371 units, 6.8% more than in August of this year.

Chairman of the AEB automobile manufacturers Committee Joerg Schreiber commented on the results of September: "In September, the market continued to show positive growth despite the high base of last year. In light of current market conditions and the expected increase in VAT from January next year, AEB has updated the forecast for 2018 as follows: it is expected that sales of cars and light commercial vehicles will exceed 1.8 million units, which means 13% increase compared to last year."

Over three quarters of the market increased (or recovered, if the starting point is to consider past performance prior to 2014) of up to 1 million 297 432 thousand vehicles (+14.9 percent). So the combined market of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles are still slowed, and the driver of growth is, as rightly pointed out by Mr. Schreiber, the impending increase in VAT to 20%, which, however, nothing good market in the future, 2019, not liable.

In the Top-10 brands by sales in September, there have been some changes, however, outside of the top three, so Renault (dropped to 5th place) and GAZ LCV (down to 10th) were negative, respectively, by 18% (up to 10 398 units) and 11% (up to 4548 units). The leaders are the same indestructible LADA 31 173 units (+10%) and Koreans KIA with 18 911 units (+1%) and Hyundai with 16 to 100 units (+1%). But thanks to the new Toyota Camry sedan (the bestseller of the Russian bureaucratic world), as well as the RAV4 crossover jumped 48% to 11 237 units. finishing in 4th place in the market due to the best dynamics in the Top 10. Then on the 6th place Volkswagen with a growth of 16% to 9364 units not counting 655 LCV units (-1%). In 7th place was Nissan with 7840 units (+18%), and 8-m – Skoda with 7777 units (+34%). On 9-th place out – Ford (in the amount of LCV, although it is still not reflected by the statistics AEB) with zero "growth" to 4644 units.

By the way, Mitsubishi is firmly caught on the 11th spot with growth of 75% to 4153 units, and 12th holds UAZ (SUVs and LCVs), while fall increased to 11% (3453 items).

Further multiple of the absolute increase among the leading brands revealed: Jeep (2.5% to 209 units) and Genesis (in 2.2 times up to 220 units) and Honda (in 2.1 times up to 452 units) and the absolute maximum gain Chinese HTM 13 times (but only up to 13 units). The American Chrysler growth to 9 units 0 vs a year earlier. Significant growth and a Hyundai commercial vehicles is 2.5 times, but also only up to 5 units.

Among the main losers of the market in September, is still FIAT (-85% to 40), smart (-80% to 28 units), IVECO (-61% to 29 units) and Foton (-60% to 26 units).

Best Chinese brand Lifan showed a decline in sales by 8% to 1,310 units (20-e a place), and following closely Chery (30th place) and Geely (31-e a place), respectively, of 434 units (-14%), and 362 units (an increase of 2.02 times). Obviously, Chery, making the focus only on crossovers, or should expand their product range, or to return to the Russian market passenger models.

Restyled Granta should significantly improve the sales of LADA brand

The three leaders over three quarters of 2018 also consists of the same LADA, KIA and Hyundai (in total 558,1 thousand or 43% of the market). In the first 9 months entire Trinity overcame a 130-thousand boundary, but LADA and chetvertfinalny (259 129 units) with a growth rate of 17%, which, however, slower than Korean rivals. The second KIA sold 167 490 units (+24%), and Hyundai, respectively, 131 492 units (+18%). At the 4th place while Renault was left with 103 294 units (+8%), and then on the 5th also with the still-large backlog – Toyota 77 816 units (+15%). Still a little bit behind the Japanese brand of the German VW from 74 770 units (+20%), who believes his ambitious LCV separately (5375 units and +9%) and lose legitimately to a higher place in the ranking. 7th place – Nissan 57 946 units (+8%), 8 with only a slight lag – Skoda 57 473 units (+28%), on the 9th – still GAS 41 704 units (+4%), and at the end of the Top 10 brands – Ford 38 212 units (+10%). On 11-th place also Mitsubishi with an increase of 2.17% to 31 203 units, and on the 12th – Oise from 27 029 units (-6%).      

The highest growth among leading brands for the first three quarters continues to demonstrate Honda (in 2.5 times) to 3536 units, and absolute growth – Chrysler (in 9.2 times) to 55 units.

Universal LADA Vesta SW contributed to the return of the domestic models on the top of the rankings for 9 months of 2018 

In the ranking of OEMs in the lead continues to go the Alliance AVTOVAZ-Renault-Nissan with 33.1% of the market in September (52 028 units) against 34,2% a year earlier. Occupying the second position on the Russian market group Hyundai Group (the brands of Hyundai Genesis and KIA) in September, has sold 35 units 231, which is slightly less than last year (22.4% of the market compared with 23.5 per cent). On the third place in Russia – VW Group with 19 275 units and a share of 12.3% versus 10.8% a year earlier.

The Top 25 models for the September burst forward, received with the restyled second wind, LADA Granta with 9936 units. (+9,2%), but LADA Vesta with 9053 units despite solid growth (+32%) failed to hold the lead. Bronze was taken by the KIA Rio with 7900 units (-24,4%), are increasingly rolling downhill.

For the first three quarters of 2018, the leaders finally came home model LADA Vesta from 76 189 units (+39,4%), Olesnica KIA Rio with 75 071 units (+2.1 per cent) into second place. By the way, Russian brands arrived – MIAS 2018 premiere luxury brand Aurus (the screen saver), however, hard on the statistics he will not be affected, as the production is small-scale is. In the third place is firmly held LADA Granta 70 186 units (+3.7 percent), which until the end of the year may take the higher place, the more so now, this series now includes two former models Kalina.

KIA Rio began visibly to yield to the Russian competitors of LADA brand

In the Top 25 were able to gain a foothold only model of the Russian Assembly, most eloquently for the preservation of such productions and the deepening of the localization and in the future. By the way, in Vladivostok, opened the production of Mazda engines, so this Japanese brand has become us even closer.
