Soon truckers will be left without work
The company Waymo (a division of Google/Google, which are developing autopilot for cars), expanded its sphere of interest. It turns out that in its depths has long been preparing a similar system for trucks, and now the first unmanned trucks left on the roads of Georgia and Colorado.
Engineers Waymo noted that the task of transplanting autopilot with passenger trucks seems easy only at first glance. Representatives of the company said that it's like that behind the wheel of a huge truck plant the ordinary motorist, who all his life went only on the runabout. It is worth considering the significantly increased size and weight, huge turning radius and other aspects. Although traffic rules and the laws of physics are the same for all, adaptation control mechanisms still requires a lot of time.
While in the cab of the truck with Autonomous control systems Waymo are the drivers ready at any time to bring the situation under control. In General, the situation is similar to the passenger drones Waymo/Google, which is almost ten years travel through the roads of the United States.
While the company has not disclosed future plans. Obviously, Waymo will continue to improve your autopilot for trucks. But where will this lead? And when will the development? The answers to these questions are not yet announced.
