Payment for CTP in a fatal accident increases by 4 times

Member of the Federation Council Committee on budget and fenningham Dmitry Shatohin in an interview with "Parlamentskaya Gazeta" said that the Federation Council positively falls within the legislative initiative of the Government about increase of payments on OSAGO from ₽500 thousand to ₽2 million in the case of fatal accidents, however, if this does not increase the cost of the policy.
Earlier, the Government proposed to increase the maximum payment for CTP in damages after fatal accidents to ₽2 million, equalize thereby, payments to relatives for the deceased passenger in a personal car with similar payments for death in a public transport like the bus, train or plane.

Today, the presidential Council for codification and enhancement of civil legislation should consider relevant amendments to the legislation.

Senator Shatokhin expressed positive views about the majority of proposals to reform the CTP, prepared by the Central Bank: "I am impressed by the position of the Central Bank as the regulator have a clear understanding of the development of the CTP for the next three years. Sure, the idea is to increase payments to those generated queries and complaints that Russians will address insurers and the authorities."

He believes that the senators can support the Government's proposal to increase the maximum payout on the insurance, but only if, the measure will not lead to a sharp increase in the cost of the insurance policy.

The initiative is also supported by the first Deputy Chairman of the Duma Committee on state construction and legislation Vyacheslav Lysakov, who believes that the maximum payment for insurance must be equal to the maximum compensation in case of accidents of buses and planes: "From the point of view of common sense it is right, all you need to bring to a common denominator". He also believes that the current average cost of compensation on MTPL insurance ranging within ₽70 thousand is too small.
