In Latvia can revive the legendary car brand RAF. As reports "the Russian newspaper", was recently registered company with the name of the RAF (Rigas Autobusu Fabrika). Also called the original manufacturer.

As reported by the expert on the Baltic market, the Director of "Vilnius car company" Cyril Shumeyko, the company plans to start production of the city's minibuses that run on electricity. It is not excluded that in the lineup will be the e-bus.

Probably, the minibus will not only feature a built-in battery, but also be able to connect to the urban contact network for charging in motion. In the future the company may start production of trailers. It is expected that the project will take place in 2020.

Experts point out that the new company will likely be to work with one of the manufacturers: to develop a new electrical platform from scratch would require too much investment. The name of a possible partner is not reported.

the Plant RAF began to work in 1949. He is specialized in the production of buses and minibuses. The most famous model was the RAF-2203 "Latvia". It has long been used as ambulances in the USSR. The issue of RAF-2203 was carried out from 1976 to 1997. In the year following the cessation of production of this model factory was closed.
