But so far only partially
Europe once again expanded its sanctions. This time against diesel vehicles. Hamburg will become the first major city, some streets which will not be allowed to drive the vehicles on diesel. The ban will come into force on 31 may.
Wednesday was a decision of the office for the protection of the environment of Hamburg, under which on two city streets will be prohibited to drive diesel cars. In this case means a relatively small section of the Max-Brauer-Alley with a length of 580 meters and 1.7-kilometer section Stresemannstrasse.
To alert drivers, the city administration will deploy over 100 traffic signs. In the first days after the ban comes into force, the traffic police will only warn motorists that violate the law. Subsequently, for a misdemeanor would have to pay, the drivers of cars will lay out €25, trucks at €75.
However, to speak of the final rejection diesel cars is premature: ban will affect only vehicles whose engines do not meet the standards Euro 6, introduced in the EU in 2015. The problem lies in the fact that their share in the General Park of cars running on "heavy" fuel does not exceed 30-36 %. For example, from 264 000 diesel cars Hamburg only 96 000 performed according to the standard Euro 6.
Despite the joy of "green", not everyone had a positive reaction to the news. For example, a representative of ADAC, General German automobile club, Christian Giff (Christian Hieff) noted that the new law is essentially discriminatory. Ultimately, why ordinary motorists have to answer for the mistakes of the auto industry?
Another problem imposed by the limitation connected with the difficulties of control. Visually some cars standards Euro 5 and Euro 6 does not vary. It turns out that the guards would be stopping everyone to check the documents?
