Many people believe SUVs are too boring. Perhaps this is true, however, the new model of Skoda is not exactly call ordinary: Sunroq is a unique crossover convertible.

The novelty is based on usual Skoda Karoq what you might guess on illumination and size of the car. However, in this case, completely missing the roof. And Sunroq neither soft nor hard convertible top. The practicality of this solution is questionable.

However, it is unlikely that the creators of a new model of thought about what would owners of such a machine. The thing is that Sunroq is a student project, a private Academy of Skoda in mladá Boleslav. A remake of the serial model involved a team of 23 students. Of course, they were helped by experienced engineers and designers, but they worked independently.

Sunroq is not the first such project. For example, last year, students created an outdoor concept concept Skoda Element. Apparently, convertibles attract students to their rebellious spirit.

From a technical point of view, Skoda Sunroq almost indistinguishable from Karoq. To compensate for the lost body rigidity has been strengthened floor and a rigid crosspiece between the rear wings. Salon is now made of white plastic, and the standard seats replaced by sport. Under the hood, has a-liter turbo engine, issuing 150 horsepower. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h allegedly did not change — 8.4 seconds.

It is noteworthy that in automotive history was the crossover convertibles. If we leave aside a full-fledged SUVs which often come with a removable top, you can recall the Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet and the Range Rover Evoque Convertible. However, they are not particularly successful use. And this spring, Honda jokingly announced the open version of CR-V.
