The Museum "Moscow transport" has found a new home

SLC under the leadership of mayor Sobyanin has allocated to the Museum in the city center in a historic building

Urban planning and land Commission headed by mayor Sergei Sobyanin decided that the Museum "Moscow transport" will move into the building "Garage truck" on Novoryazanskaya street house number 27 (buildings 1 and 3) – an 11-minute walk from the nearest metro (Bauman or Komsomol) according to Yandex map.

The Commission approved the draft regulations of land use and requirements of the town planning regulations of the territory of the joint security area No. 181 and agreed on the amendments to the rules of land use and development.


The press service of the Mayor's office said: "the land Area of 1.81 ha. is In this territory is the object of cultural heritage of regional value – "Garage for trucks".

the Garage was built by the famous architect Konstantin Melnikov and engineer Vladimir Shukhov (design of overlappings of a roof) in 1929-1931 for 300 German (!) trucks of Moscow municipal services. In 1948 the building was converted in 4-th bus fleet in force until 2017. Then in a historic building (it even has its own Wikipedia page) was going to open almost a supermarket, but fortunately it was decided to give the historic building more more considerate of the application, such as to move to a Museum "Moscow transport", which was located at the base of the Mosgortrans.

The Museum is quite extensive, so, its collection includes more than 260 exhibits, including vintage cars, public passenger transport and special equipment. This cultural institution is open to visitors from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 h to 21 h. 

In this period, the Museum opened the exhibition "Moscow transport in details" in honor of the 60th anniversary of the Mosgortrans. Offers historical and travel tickets, form conductors, route numbers and bus stencils of previous years. The exhibition is open until October 31.

Buses from the Museum collection "Moscow transport" is often put up at various public events, for example, at ENEA on the occasion of the launch on the line of the first Moscow electric bus
