The case when a luxury car is cheaper than a camera
In the production of feature films to shoot scenes of the chase are usually used specially prepared cars. And we are talking about cars outside of the frame. Camera equipment includes the camera itself, the stabilization system and the operator's seat, usually mounted on the SUV or pickup truck. They are best adapted to the additional load, besides if necessary, they can be used off-road. However, the fastest car for the shoot was the Lamborghini Huracam.
In the name Huracam no typos. The name is derived from Huracan + Camera. Apparently, the filmmakers appreciated the layout of the rear-engined Italian supercar: the support bracket was installed in the front trunk, only had to remove the "hood".
By default, the Lamborghini Huracan comes with a 610-horsepower atmospheric V10 5.2 litre, robotized transmission and all-wheel drive. In this case, the technical part was not amended, but it is unlikely that the coupe will be able to demonstrate the declared by manufacturer performance: due to the increased weight and ruined aerodynamics maximum speed is far from the passport 323 km/h.
Involuntarily the question arises: why use such an expensive car for filming, when you can take something a little less pretentious and for mere pennies (by the standards of American tuning) upgrade it? However, be aware that the only manufacturer of camera gimbal and control system provided over $500 000. This should add the cost of the camera itself, and then the price of the Lamborghini Huracan (and about $200 000) will seem very reasonable.
A curious fact: the supercars is not the first time used when shooting movies. For the production of "Need for Speed: need for speed" were involved in the coupe Ferrari 458, in the front compartment which is also the camera.
