We are accustomed to news about the testing of unmanned vehicles anywhere in California or Arizona. And as the prototypes of "smart" machines will look on the streets of Ryazan and Lipetsk? These two cities are mentioned at all by chance: they were chosen as a polygon for testing vehicles-drones. The President of the nonprofit partnership "GLONASS", the co-Director of the working group of the National technology initiative "Avtonet" Alexander Gurko has told in interview to Agency "Prime".

a "Cities were selected according to various criteria, home — developed transport network, the presence of cameras of video fixing, Parking lots and other elements of the intelligent transport system (its) — said Alexander Gurko. — was chosen Ryazan and Lipetsk. Now analyze both cities. Lipetsk is more suitable for testing unmanned vehicles, and the Ryazan created its highly integrated".

Gurko noted that in world practice it is accepted to choose to run separate drone of the city. "It's pretty common all over the world. For example, in the U.S. General Motors is actively testing its driverless cars. Tests are held in San Francisco, Detroit and Phoenix. The tests involved the Chevrolet Bolt electric cars with Autonomous control system".

a "In Russia also it is planned to select a city for testing driverless vehicles, connected cars (to satellite systems – ed.) and electric vehicles, V2X-technology by which a vehicle communicates with another vehicle and the environment. Also will be worked out different scenarios for Parking and refueling, joint use of manned and unmanned vehicles".

From myself I will add that in Ryazan and Lipetsk the computer-controlled machines will have to be not as easy as in California and Arizona. In the United States for a reason tests are carried out in the southern regions: the maximum number of Sunny days and low precipitation make life easier for cameras, sensors and radars. If you want you can find other factors, not relevant to climatic features. For example, in Russia, the drones will have to deal with broken roads, often missing markup and low discipline of the drivers.
